Because the roof and the attic fail together. A hot, unventilated attic cooks shingles from below. We hold the C-2 license so we can fix both sides of the problem correctly.
02How much insulation does a Bay Area attic need?
California Title 24 calls for R-38 or more in most Bay Area climate zones. Many older homes have a fraction of that.
03Should I insulate when I replace my roof?
It is the ideal time. The attic is accessible, ventilation is being addressed anyway, and the combined project costs less than doing them separately.
04Does insulation help in summer too?
Yes. It slows heat coming down from the roof deck into the rooms below, which is the main comfort problem in inland East Bay and South Bay homes.
